Freiburg, 11 October 1999 - At Telecom '99 in Geneva, Ericsson demonstrates a small MP3 Digital Audio Player, designed as an intelligent accessory to be attached to the new range of 3-V platform phones.
The MP3 player from Ericsson allows the user to listening to high-quality digital audio through the stereo earpieces between calls. The player is shown as a fully working technology study using MICRONAS Digital Audio Technology to evaluate the concept of a high-quality audio player for a mobile phone.
This Smart Accessory, utilising the phone battery, display and keypad is the result of a fast-track project between the two companies, MICRONAS providing the core components, design and technology implementation. The concept provides an optimised accessory solution with seamless phone interaction, excellent audio quality, and extensive playback times.
