Micronas' Audio Controller for Xbox Video Game System from Microsoft (0113)

- Trade News | 0113

July 26, 2001 - Micronas will supply its highly integrated audio controller for applications for the XboxTM video game system from Microsoft. The digital audio USB codec UAC 355xB integrates all mixed-signal components such as headphone amplifiers and microphone preamplifiers. The resulting small form factor makes the device an ideal choice for system manufacturers.

Micronas started its cooperation with Microsoft at an early stage of the Xbox development. "Microsoft is looking forward to a long-term relationship with Micronas", says Todd Holmdahl, General Manager, Xbox Hardware at Microsoft.

"The Xbox will push game platforms to a new level and we are proud to contribute with our products to the success of the game platform", says Hans-Jürgen Désor, VP Marketing and R&D Consumer Products at Micronas.

The UAC 355xB audio controller combines a codec with a streaming interface in a very small form factor. This allows it to be integrated into accessories along with other USB-enabled functions. This unique architecture enables for the first time individual audio streams to each game player, even on one and the same game console - an exciting new experience for the consumer.
