Micronas receives Excellent Supplier Award 2005 for Technology Innovation (0608)

Freiburg, Germany, April 4, 2006 - Sony Television Operations Europe (TVOE) has awarded Micronas (SWX Swiss Exchange: MASN), a leading supplier of IC system solutions for consumer electronics, the Excellent Supplier Award 2005 - Technology Innovation, in recognition of Micronas’ strong co-operation to Sony TVOE for Development Support in Advances in Device & Feature Integration of audio and video.

At the annual Sony Europe Suppliers Conference, Domingo Jaumandreu, Senior Vice President at Sony TVOE, praised Micronas for its many contributions. “I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your huge efforts and actions to achieve FY05 European Consumer Electronics Trend.”

Accepting the award for Micronas was Wolfgang Kuehn, Vice President Sales Consumer at Micronas. “Our business relationship with Sony is a long-standing one. Micronas’ industry-leading IC solutions have made their way into quite a number of Sony’s high-tech consumer electronics. Reducing development effort and time-to-market while covering a broad range of products, is the key to success in the fast growing flat panel TV market. With this in mind, we worked with Sony to combine all of the audio and video performance and features they needed into a single device.”

The award was presented during the annual Sony Europe Suppliers Conference in Barcelona, Spain, on February 9, 2006. Micronas has been a partner of Sony for more than 25 years.
