TDK Corporation (TSE 6762) showcases its product innovations for many kinds of embedded technologies at Embedded World 2020 from February 25 to 27 in Nuremberg, Germany. TDK presents magnetic sensors and embedded motor control solutions as well as power supply solutions, and passive components for Internet-of-Things applications as well as motion, sound, and ultrasonic sensor solutions at booth 438 in hall 3A.

Embedded motor control solutions and magnetic sensors
The HVC 4420F enables direct drive of small brush-type, stepper or brushless electric motors in smart, attractive actuators. With its flash memory, NVRAM, and dedicated diagnostic functions, TDK’s embedded motor controllers ensure that OEM’s ideas and approaches on diagnostics and actuator status surveillance are supported best.

Power supply solutions
The non-isolated DC-DC converters of the i3A and i6A series offer excellent efficiency in an input voltage range (9 – 53 V) that was previously not available on the market. The absence of galvanic isolation gives customers many advantages such as very high efficiency up to 98%, low heat generation, and extremely compact dimensions. The i3A and i6A series are suitable for use in medical, communications, industrial, test and measurement, broadcast, and portable equipment.

In addition to the DC-DC converters, TDK will present a selection of AC-DC power supplies, such as the large medical and industrial power supply series CUS-M and the modular power supply series QM. Furthermore, TDK will show the new GENESYS+ GH 1.5 kW half-rack, 1U programmable power supply series, which can deliver power ratings up to 1500 W.

Passive components
TDK will give an overview of its product range of passive components for Internet-of-Things applications. This will include RF components, multilayer and thin-film inductors, ceramic capacitors, SESUB modules, piezo actuators with haptic feedback, and wireless charging coils. One of the highlights is a live demonstration of CeraChargeTM, the world’s first solid-state SMD rechargeable battery. This new technology combines a relatively high energy density and smallest volume with the safety and high volume manufacturing benefits of ceramic multilayer components. CeraCharge can be used in a wide range of applications – particularly in IoT devices and systems.

Motion, sound, and ultrasonic sensor solutions
TDK solutions combine MEMS (micro electrical mechanical systems) sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, compasses, microphones, pressure sensors, and ultrasonic 3D-sensing with proprietary algorithms and firmware that intelligently process, synthesize, and calibrate the output of sensors, maximizing performance and accuracy. SmartSenseTM, a compact wireless multi-sensor solution provides intelligent monitoring and remote data collection for a variety of IoT applications. The IIM-46234 is a new high-performance and fault-tolerant inertial measurement unit (IMU) targeted at industrial applications. The new CH-201 is a MEMS-based ultrasonic Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor with an extended sensing range of 5 meters.

ASIC development to reduce electronics cost, space and to protect your IP
ICsense is a TDK group company specialized in ASIC development and supply and custom IC design services. To save costs, space and to protect their IP, more companies develop their own custom IC. At Embedded World, ICsense will showcase the latest innovations in ASIC design (Application-Specific IC).
ICsense has the largest fab-independent European design group with world-class expertise in analog, digital, mixed-signal and high-voltage IC design. The company develops and supplies customer-exclusive ASIC solutions for the automotive, medical, industrial, and consumer markets compliant with ISO9001, ISO13485, and IEC61508-ISO26262.
