Micronas certificated for outstanding fire prevention
Freiburg, April 19, 2016 – On Friday, April 15. 2016, the operational headquarters of Micronas in Freiburg, a TDK group company, was SISTA certificated by the insurance company SV SparkassenVersicherung (SV) for outstanding fire protection. SISTA stands for safety standards for the risk assessment of commercial and industrial risks. The certification, which is rarely handed-out by the SV, documents the particularly high level of fire safety in larger companies and industries after a detailed inspection. The industrial property insurer gives the SISTA certificate since March 2010. Previously it was only awarded to six companies, Micronas has now been honored as the seventh.
Micronas focuses on preventative fire protection in all construction work, technical equipment and in their staff training. The result is a high level of protection in the buildings, in the production, and infrastructure facilities. Here are for example fire walls, fire doors and fire dampers installed and an alarm system that is connected to smoke detectors, gas detection, extinguishing systems and sprinkler systems. In addition, the alarm center is staffed on-site 24 hours a day.
"A loss of production results in delivery delays and a loss of revenue, therefore a continuous production without disruption is essential for us", says Matthias Bopp, CEO of Micronas. "We appreciate the constructive support from the technical experts of SV."
Stephan Schwegat, Head of the Trade/Industry Department of SV, who handed over the certificate, explains: "Due to the cooperation with the responsible employees and the knowledge resulting from our inspections, we concluded that Micronas has extraordinary fire safety awareness which was transferred into a coherent fire safety concept and which justifies the certification.”
The SV makes up to 830 annual visits, but only one or two companies are awarded with the certificate SISTA on average. The risk awareness of the companies is assessed on the basis of ten classification criteria, in which each is awarded with a maximum of nine points. The judgment is performed by 20 so-called risk engineers. They come from different fields and are additionally trained fire fighters.
