Since December 2003 all enterprises worldwide have to apply process-oriented QM systems.

CeBIT, Hanover, Germany, March 12, 2005 -- Micronas successfully passed the ISO/TS 16949 certification process. All international automotive manufacturers have acknowledged the ISO/TS 16949:2002 norm as a common basis for business, ensuring that agreed specifications are met precisely at all times. Automotive suppliers are now required to undergo certification according this harmonized norm valid worldwide. ISO/TS 16949:2002 supersedes quality norm QS9000, which will expire by December 14, 2006.

In acquiring the ISO/TS 16949 certification, Micronas once more proves that their corporate Quality Management procedures and standards fully comply with the strictest international standards for Quality Management (QM) systems for suppliers of the automotive industry. One of the prerequisites for a successful certification with this most important technical specification is the proof of having effectively operated a QM system according to ISO/TS 16949 over a period of twelve months. Beforehand, a full internal QM audit and assessment process has to be undergone. This crucial mission has now been successfully accomplished.

ISO/TS 16949:2002 is being endorsed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), represented by the European and the US automotive industry as well as the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JAMA).
